Cooperative Soap Drive

Did you know that families or individuals getting assistance in a time of need are unable to purchase personal care items with assistance funding from the state? Those in need often have access to food in times of crisis thanks to local food pantries, but personal care items are not always available. This is why FreeState is sponsoring a soap drive to collect donations.

The food pantries in our area function as direct community outreach to serve those who need assistance. The pantries rely on donors, volunteers, and drives like this one to stock their shelves and operate. We’re asking our members to help us collect new soap products to assist two local pantries. Bring donations to the Health Fair on October 1 in McLouth, or the Energy Fair in Topeka on October 23. If you can't make those events, consider dropping a donation off at either one of our offices.

Items to collect:

  • Liquid Soap (hand and body)
  • Bar Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Laundry detergent
  • Dish soap
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Other personal care items

Community involvement is the cooperative difference at work. Your co-op needs your help. No donation is too small!

This year, we will be distributing items collected from October 1, 2019, to October 31, 2019, to two area food pantries:

  • Auburn Community Food Pantry (Auburn)
  • God’s Storehouse (Meriden)

If you are unable to donate items, consider a monetary donation. No amount is too small. Questions about the soap drive can be directed to Sarah Farlee, Public Relations, and Marketing Specialist. Checks can be made out to FreeState Electric Cooperative but must be a separate transaction from your monthly payment. Please send donations to:

Thank you for your help as we reach out to our local communities to assist in gathering items of need.
